Wholly Strange and New

"When good is near you, when you have life in yourself, it is not by any known or accustomed way; you shall not discern the foot-prints of any other; you shall not see the face of man; you shall not hear any name; the way, the thought, the good, shall be wholly strange and new."
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Day 16 Assignment: Wholly Strange and New by Bridget Pilloud

Can you remember a moment in your life when you had life in yourself and it was wholly strange and new? Can you remember the moment when you stopped walking a path of someone else, and started cutting your own?

Write about that moment. And if you haven’t experienced it yet, let the miracle play out in your mind’s eye and write about that moment in your future.

Speaking from the viewpoint of a mother, I instantly thought of the new life inside of me when I was pregnant.

Motherhood is such a beautiful and spiritual experience, and relates to other areas of life.

Conception: fertilization; the genesis of life. Concept: an abstract idea or a mental symbol; Something formed in the mind

The symbolism of conceiving of something, nurturing and protecting it while it grows and develops, and then the labor of birthing it into the world can easily be applied to ideas and to spirituality.

In several passages of the bible we are told to meditate on the Word, and to cast down any thought that is in opposition to the Word.

Pregnancy occurs by seed being sown, whether it's sperm required to create a human baby in the womb, or whether it's Word seed being planted in the human soul that will develop into physical manifestation.

I can remember the wonder and awe I felt as a mother-to-be, knowing that I had a little life growing inside of me. I would talk to him, sing to him, play the piano for him... and always pray and imagine a perfectly healthy, beautiful child.

Do we have that same sense of awe and wonder when we are in the process of growing Word seed in our lives? Do we really have that same level of connection that the process we are going through is real, that as each day passes and we continue to nourish that seed within us, that we are actually growing new life that will be born into our circumstances?

I think this is where many of us "miss it". We understand the process mentally. We go through the mechanical steps, but without the emoional connection, the belief, the praise and thanksgiving because we know that it already exists, living inside of us now; without that, we are just going through the motions wondering why God isn't answering our prayer.

We forget that Jesus said:

"Therefore I say to you, What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them."
~ Mark 11:24
